Document is a photographic award launched by War on Want in which young photographers are encouraged to capture images connected with poverty and human rights
Kibera, photographed here, is Africa's largest slum and is home to a quarter of Nairobi's population. It is one of the most densely populated places on Earth, with some of the most challenging conditions in which to live and raise families. Post election violence, poverty, crime, poor sanitation, AIDS and corruption are among its many problems. Yet its residents are highly skilled, academically and technically, and form a workforce which contributes significantly to Nairoibi's growth - it is, today, one of the world's fastest growing cities.
